Grace McIntosh McFarland celebrates 99 years today. She has done many things –– circus performer, circus manager and circus owner. After retiring from the circus, she was a volunteer, delivering meals and visiting people in the Choctaw Memorial Hospital.

Grace McIntosh McFarland celebrates 99 years today. She has done many things –– circus performer, circus manager and circus owner. After retiring from the circus, she was a volunteer, delivering meals and visiting people in the Choctaw Memorial Hospital.

Grace McIntosh McFarland turns 99-years-old today, July 25. She grew up on circus. Grace did things a woman was not expected to do –– she showed a woman can do, and be, whatever she wants. She became a premiere aerialist and eventually, a circus owner and producer. Grace began her circus career as part of the Romig and Rooney Circus Troupe at age 12 (1927, one year before the telephone was invented).
