Choctaw Electric customers circulation petition calling for removal of entire Board of Directors

A large group of Choctaw Electric Cooperative members succeeded in their mission to remove the entire board of the Co-Op in 1982. Today, a band of members formed a group, Choctaw Electric Customers for Fair Pricing, have begun a petition drive in hopes of doing the same thing.

HUGO — According to Rattan area resident and Choctaw Electric Cooperative customer Doug Felker, what started out as simple requests for information about how his bill was formulated, has now morphed into a full-blown fight over the future control of a $43 million dollar –– 18,000 customer electrical enterprise that encompasses Oklahoma’s three southeastern-most counties.
Felker insists that from the very beginning of his information-seeking efforts, he was stymied and stonewalled by both Choctaw Electric board members and management as he sought what he thought were simple answers to simple questions.
