On Wednesday, July 23, twin brother, Wyndol, and I turned 73. I am writing this outdoor article on my birthday morning for the Hugo News as I have for the last 40-plus years. I can say that I’ve enjoyed every second of it.
I have seen some wonderful changes in this great town we call home. Hugo came about because of the Frisco railroad having tracks running north, south, east and west. Cotton was king. Hugo had three gins. Farming and ranching helped anchor this town. Close to 10,000 people lived here in its heyday.
