Throw your hat in the air and shout yahoo for the outstanding cowboys and cowgirls of Choctaw County pictured, and for the rest of the competitors, members, volunteers and sponsors of the 2014 Oklahoma Youth Rodeo Association (OYRA). The Finals were held from June 12-15, in Hugo at the Todd Whatley – Lige Hammock Arena.
The OYRA awards banquet and a Cowboy Crossing Church service were held on Sunday at the Choctaw County Bill Grant Civic Center. The following is a list of names and awards won by Choctaw County competitors, including saddles, cash and belt buckles.
Jamie Dill made finals in two events, barrels and poles, she finished the year 10th place in poles and 15th place in barrels.
Keily Abney made the finals in six events: junior breakaway, junior tie down, junior ribbon roping, junior goat tying, junior poles, team roping; junior tie down – sixth year end and seventh in the average for the finals, junior breakaway – eighth year end, junior ribbons – fourth year end and first in the average finals, junior goats – sixth year end and fourth in the average for the finals, junior poles reserve champion and third in the average for the finals, team roping – 10th year end and third in the average for the finals.
