DPS warns of drivers license revocations for certain traffic offenses PDF Print E-mail

The Department of Public Safety is warning traffic law violators of new restrictions concerning traffic laws. House Bill 1507 which was signed by Governor Fallin on May 18, 2011 and took effect Nov. 1, 2011, calls for a mandatory one-year drivers license revocation for any licensee convicted of the following traffic offenses:

• Reckless driving without regard to the safety of others.

• Failure to stop for a school bus loading or unloading children.

• Failure to obey a traffic control device (or stop for stop sign) when such failure results in great bodily injury to any other person.

DPS sends a 30-day notice of license revocation to the last known address of the licensee.

 
Boswell school board honors Hitchcock during meeting PDF Print E-mail

The Boswell board of education presented a plaque of appreciation to outgoing board member, president Robbie Hitchcock on Thursday night.

Hitchcock spoke, expressing that he had seen the service as, “A blessing to me.”

Elementary principal Scott McCorstin reported for both the elementary and high school. The academic bowl area competition will be held in Kiowa on Jan. 12.

 
Hugo Police have busy night with beating, shooting PDF Print E-mail

Officers with the Hugo Police Department had a long night Tuesday after following up on reports of a shooting and the beating of a local business owner.

According to statements from HPD, a 21-year-old male was taken to Choctaw Memorial Hospital after being shot while on the north side of Rosewood on Central St. Offi-cers said the victim declined an investigation and prosecution, wanting nothing to come of the incident.

Hugo Police also probed an incident occurring at a liquor store on the southwest side of Hugo.

Eight students from Boswell’s junior high and high school recently competed in the Southeast III District STAR Events for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. Those students were Kyle Virden, Sadie Fomby, Hannah Manous, Jayme Edwards, Erika Van-Fossen, Dyani Shores, Courtney Fomby and Jacob West.

A SWEARING-IN CEREMONY WAS HELD RECENTLY FOR NEWLY-ELECTED CHOCTAW COUNTY OFFICIALS ––Sheriff Terry Park (above) and county court clerk Laura Sumner (below). A large gathering of family and friends was present to show encouragement to the new offi-cials. Reading the Oath of Office to the new officials was Associate District Judge James Wolfe.
