Choctaw County Sheriff’s officers made a traffic stop west of Highway 70 in the city of Boswell on or about Dec. 11. Driving a 1978 Ford Pickup was John Paul Scott. Sheriff’s officers made an arrest and Scott was booked into Choctaw County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony, a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance, driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and operating a vehicle with defective equipment or unsafe conditions, all misdemeanor charges. |

On Dec. 6, Deputy Moore of the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department obtained a search warrant for the resident located on Delare Ave. in Fort Towson. The home belonged to Kellie Beatrice Bozarth (Holt). Officer’s reports state that at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Dec. 7, the search warrant was served and officers made contact with Bozarth. Bozarth was transported to the Choctaw County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. |

The Circus City Christmas Parade, “A Kids Christmas,” will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 in Hugo. Entries must be at Choctaw County Chevrolet by 1:30 p.m. and the entry number must be displayed on the driver’s side of entry. Judging categories include: • Float with the most kids. • Best decorated float. • Best four wheeler. • Best walking group. • Best car. • Best horse. • Best bicycle. Santa will be at the end of the parade and will also be at the Santa House next to the Hugo Depot from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. |

Filings for declarations of candidacy for Choctaw County school board positions closed at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The positions at stake will be filled at the Annual School Election scheduled Feb 8, 2011. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the total votes cast in the election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in an election on Tuesday, April 5, 2011. Vying for the positions will be: Hugo SD I-39-Office No. 1 for a 5-year term. • Brad Wells. • Marty Clinton.

The Kiamichi Technology Center played host to the 83rd annual Hugo Area Chamber Banquet last Thursday night. Dinner and entertainment were enjoyed by the many guests of the banquet. Paula Donaldson, a financial advisor at Edward Jones entertained the crowd with beautiful instrumentals on the piano. Scott Pace, master of ceremonies, kept the crowd laughing while awards were being presented. Those receiving awards were: • Staci Pace received the Special Recognition Award and the Citizen of the Year Award. • Carla Harrison received the Pride of Hugo Award. • Troy Minyard of Southwest Fabrications received the Agriculture Business Award. • David Minyard of the Hugo Livestock Market received the Business of the Year Award. • David Rawls and the city of Hugo received the Golden Acorn Award. • Carolyn Hicks of the Hugo Ministerial Alliance and Sharing Hope received the Humanitarian Award. • Lawrence Testa received the A.L. Fountain Award for outstanding community service. • The Choctaw Nation Health Complex received the Beautification Award. • Randy Robertson and Jon Paul Bozeman received the Hats Off Awards. • Will Payne with K95.5 received the Torch Award. |
