Becky Harris has announced her retirement after six years as Choctaw County assessor. Harris, who was elected in 2007, has been employed with the assessor’s office since 1991. “I’ve enjoyed my time in this office,” Harris said. I appreciate everyone who has supported me during my years as assessor, and appreciate the staff, who has been very loyal and faithful.” |

OKLAHOMA CITY –A contract was recently awarded for highway safety improvements in Choctaw County, Sen. Jerry Ellis and Rep. R. C. Pruett recently announced. According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the project involves repairing the bridge over Crowder Creek exactly one mile west of US-271. |

HUGO ––Eight-year old Hugo Elementary student, Laney Cox recently qualified to participate in the 2013 KTM Jr. Supercross Challenge at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 16. The only girl to qualify for the competition so far, Laney competed against 14 boys who came from all across the nation, including Florida, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New York and Maryland. |
