HUGO — This little area got some big publicity Wednesday evening on TVs across the country and the world.
A private screening party was held from 7 to 9 p.m. to celebrate the premiere of Hugo’s 2009 PRCA Rodeo on an episode of Women’s Pro Rodeo Today on RFD-TV. Community leaders and PRCA Rodeo Committee members gathered in the Frisco Depot RV Park Hospitality House where they enjoyed a dinner of chili, chips and fresh salad and various cakes and desserts sponsored by the Hugo Chamber of Commerce. Footage was shown on a 60-inch television and at 8:30 p.m. everyone watched the first fully edited episode on TV.

A large portion of that amount, $4.6 million,  was awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act formula, and the other $4 million was awarded competitively. Only 61 of the 436 tribes who applied received any of those competitive grant funds.
Deputy Director of the Choctaw Housing Authority Duane Winship said the success of receiving the funding from the stimulus package was largely due to the foresight of Chief Gregory E. Pyle and the Tribal Council.
