HUGO — B.K. Silverlake grabbed the silver lining and would not let go. Travel with the circus for just one season and you understand the extended circus family. With today’s new technology it is easier than ever to keep in touch. You can call a cell phone, you can e-mail and let’s not forget Web cams. But B.K. is more of the old fashion kind of gal. She wants to see the words coming out of someone’s mouth. She wants to hold the newest baby. She wants the entire extended circus family to keep in touch whenever they are in town. So the best way to show you still care is through actions. That is why B.K. took the time to initiate the process to start the Circus City Showmens Club. She found an abundance of help and support from her circus family. They all agreed they need a regular place to get together and update each other as well as reminisce. At the January 2010 meeting officer elections were held. Elected were president, B.K. Silverlake, vice president, Mike Fulton, secretary, Jodi Rawls and treasurer, Carol Rawls Mendez. The Circus City Showmens Club meets at 6 p.m. the first Saturday of the month at the Hugo VFW.
