By Amber Hanneken Staff Writer HUGO β Smiles abounded Thursday evening as Hugo and Grant FFA and 4-H youth received their prizes for placing in the Hugo Junior Livestock Show. Chili and stew supper were served and a labor auction was conducted to help raise funds for the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show, which will be March 3, 4 and 5. The auction was conducted by Boswell resident Robbie Chandler. Students were auctioned off for eight hours of labor. Winning bidders have to provide them with lunch the day they work. Pies and other desserts were also sold. βItβs good for them to get out and work and be seen in the community,β volunteer Pam Waugh said. One of the highest winning bids of the night was $310 by Perry Thompson for Sarah Thompson. Superintendent Tony Daugherty, High School Principal Debbie Golden and other Hugo administrators also put down money for the cause.
