HUGO — A 92-year-old Hugo man died Friday afternoon after being hit by a semi-tractor trailer at the intersection of Highway 70 and Business 70 in Hugo. G.W. “Stub” Poyner, a long-time resident of Choctaw County and nationally renowned dog breeder and trainer, turned his Chevy pickup eastbound into the path of the semi at about 1:50 p.m., according to Hugo Police Officer Steve Babcock. Poyner was pronounced dead at the scene. Babcock said the highway was closed for about an hour and a half as police and emergency crews worked the accident. Poyner’s services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22 in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.
