HUGO — Hugo Police attempted to stop a vehicle on East Jefferson Street for speeding at around 1 a.m. Tuesday, which then led officers on a chase, according to police reports. Officers chased the vehicle through residential areas on the south side of Hugo. A 35-year-old black male eventually jumped out of the vehicle while it was still in motion, police said. The report states the vehicle crashed into a tree as the man fled on foot. The man was taken into custody in a wooded area a short time later and booked into the Choctaw County jail for driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving under suspension, speeding, attempting to elude and other traffic violations.
