HUGO ––Hugo city council members took action regarding the Boys & Girls Club pool contract during a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday evening.
Upon a motion by councilwoman Francine Morris, the pool contract was approved with one alteration ––an employee separate from the club will be on-hand during pool hours to monitor and assess the needs of the pool and its patrons. It was announced that Joe Ward will assume this position.
Jim Webb was reappointed to the planning and zoning board, after a recommendation from Hugo Mayor Stan Payne.
Members of the council will hold a special noon-meeting on May 31 for the statutorily required budget presentation and hearing for the city of Hugo.
The bidding process for the roof repair at the fire department was struck from the agenda and will be picked back up during the June 4 meeting of the municipal authority.
The minutes of the May 7 meeting, purchase order lists and financial statements were approved. All councilors were present.
According to Mayor Stan Payne, the landfill is still open until further notice to those cleaning up debris and limbs from last week’s storms.
“Please tie down your trash, or don’t fill your trucks and trailers so full,” Payne said. “Our street crew and the county’s crew have been picking up limbs and debris that have fallen out and are blocking roadways. Do your part to help.”
