SAWYER — Chief Stewart Stanfield was hired on to the Sawyer Police Department Monday evening. Stanfield was raised in Sawyer, graduated from Rattan High School in 1979 and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree. He started work on June 19. The resignation of Officer Joey Renfro was accepted in the meeting, following its submission in last month’s meeting. The police report was given with a total of eight cases responded to and seven solved. The outstanding case is involving a burglary of the Corps of Engineers property. A 45-minute executive session was conducted, with the presence of Attorney Eric Janzen of the Oklahoma Municipal League representing the Addy case.
