HUGO — This little area got some big publicity Wednesday evening on TVs across the country and the world. A private screening party was held from 7 to 9 p.m. to celebrate the premiere of Hugo’s 2009 PRCA Rodeo on an episode of Women’s Pro Rodeo Today on RFD-TV. Community leaders and PRCA Rodeo Committee members gathered in the Frisco Depot RV Park Hospitality House where they enjoyed a dinner of chili, chips and fresh salad and various cakes and desserts sponsored by the Hugo Chamber of Commerce. Footage was shown on a 60-inch television and at 8:30 p.m. everyone watched the first fully edited episode on TV. County Economic Developer David Hinkle led the evening by showing clips from the more than 24 hours of interviews and footage made by RFD-TV while they were in Hugo for the June 2009 rodeo and homecoming event. “Every interview was good all the way through,” Hinkle said.
