By Rachel Berry Youth Editor In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. The Hugo Boys and Girls Club offers that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a since of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. At the Boys and Girls Club, there are students known as the Jr. Staff. These students have had to go through the same process as anyone who has a job. They had to complete applications, provide references, go through an interview process and even write an essay. Once selected, their job is to help take care of the younger kids. They participate in all the activities that the younger children do, but they are their to be of assistance to the children who may need help with things such as homework, other school necessities, or just someone to talk to as a friend. Four members of the Jr. Staff were interviewed about their main interests and opinions about school and the Boys and Girls club.
