The documentary, "Crystal Darkness Oklahoma," was aired throughout the state and Hugo joined more than 200 Oklahoma communities in viewing the program. The documentary featured people in every aspect of the fight against meth, including law enforcement officials and recovering addicts.

The event was organized by the Choctaw County Coalition A Turning Point Initiative, the  SOIC Area Prevention Resource Center and Oklahoma Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Organizers were extremely pleased with the local turnout.

"I am pleased and overwhelmed with the turnout," Chairman of the Choctaw County Coalition Martha Bloodworth said. "We had 225 people register, and there were probably more than that actually here."

Bloodworth hopes the program is the beginning of a proactive movement to rid the community of this dangerous drug.

"We are really hoping this program produces education and awareness in both Oklahoma and Choctaw County," she said. "We see it as kind of a springboard for the community to come together and find ways to make positive changes."

The documentary was followed by a question and answer session where audience members posed various questions to a panel made up of local law enforcement officials, medical personnel and recovered meth addicts.

Hugo will host a next steps meeting on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at the Christian Life Outreach Ministries, 404 West Bissell.
