By Amber Hanneken Staff Writer HUGO — Customers were surprised over the weekend to find the Movie Gallery had emptied its stock and closed its doors. A sign on the window instructed customers to return movies and games to the Durant branch at 311 Westside or call 580.920.2899. Customers may also call the corporate office at 877.325.8687. A Hollywood Corporation representative, who declined to give her name, said Monday morning that people who call the corporate number will receive a prepaid postage label to mail the items back to the company at no charge. She said the closure is due to a company-wide downsizing and about a quarter of the stores across the country have shut down. Hollywood Corporation hopes to reopen many of the stores once the economy picks up, the spokesperson said.
