It’s true, there are no secrets in a small town. What began as an anonymous, visionary endearment from a woman living in California, who had spent her childhood in Fort Towson, in Choctaw County, has become an intriguing, epic story.

Located in southeast Oklahoma, the four-lane U. S. Highway 70 east and west, makes an intrusive slash through the center of the community of approximately 600 residents. In 1902, the Arkansas and Choctaw Railway reached eastern Choctaw County, generating the town site. It is a namesake of the historic Fort Towson nearby. Fort Towson community is indeed a portal into the earliest history of the state of Oklahoma.

Entering the city limits of Fort Towson from the west, look to the right, there resides Hopson Park. It was envisioned in the early 1990s, by benefactor, Morynne Hopson Motley, of California; in remembrance of her childhood days with family and friends.
