BOSWELL –– It was all hands on deck last Wednesday night, when a fire destroyed three historic buildings in Boswell. It was reported that firefighters weren’t sure what caused the massive fire, but it allegedly started at the old bank building. The three buildings had been abandoned but were ruled a total loss. Agencies responding included: Boswell Volunteer Fire Department, Bennington Volunteer Fire Department, Durant Fire & Rescue, Soper Volunteer Fire Department, Nelson Volunteer Fire Department, Bluff Volunteer Fire Department, Speer Volunteer Fire Department, Hugo Fire & Rescue, Messer Volunteer Fire Department, Darwin Volunteer Fire Department, Antlers Volunteer Fire Department, Grant Volunteer Fire Department, Choctaw County EMS, Boswell Police Department and Choctaw County Sheriff’s Office. RAY PRUETT recently gave Hugo Rotary Club members an update on the new PRUETT’S FOOD STORE under construction in east Hugo. Pruett stated the store was scheduled to open on Dec. 9. “My wife Marcy and I are excited to be in Hugo!” Pruett told the Rotarians. “This will be our 10th store and the nicest in our group… perhaps the nicest between Tulsa and Dallas!” Pruett said the store would have more than 25,000 items and online shopping. The store will have “an exceptional produce department, meat counter, seafood counter, bakery, deli and even a selection of Sushi, which is growing in popularity with all age shoppers. He added that many items that were scarce in the spring are beginning to become available again. The new PRUETTS FOOD STORE in Hugo will include 23,000 square feet, located next to First Bank on East Kirk Street. He stated that former Choctaw County Economic Developer David Rawls, and current Hugo City Manager Leah Savage had been extremely helpful and supportive in bringing his new family business to Hugo that would support 60 new employees, many of whom are presently in training for the new business.
