Bell McKaughan

Graveside services for Fannie Bell McKaughan were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 in the Nolia Cemetery. Pastor Rick Westbrook officiated the services for the family. Bell went to be with the Lord on Sept. 17, 2020 in Paris, Texas, at the age of 93.

Bell McKaughan was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Sardis, Okla., the daughter of James Roscoe Wade and Louisa Jeanetta (Coffey) Wade. She grew up in the mountains north of Antlers, attended Nashoba Elementary School, and graduated from Clayton High School. She met and married Jack McKaughan in Antlers, in 1946. The two of them traveled while he worked construction projects across the country. They later settled and had lived in Pasadena, Texas for 30 years while Jack worked as an electrician before moving to Finley, Okla., in 1983. Bell was the ultimate homemaker and lived through a time when being self-sufficient was the highest education. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and caring for her whole family. She enjoyed the mountain wildlife and birds in her later years. She and her husband did the Christmas lights and decorations for the public to see for many years.

Bell is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack McKaughan in 1998; her son, Michael Wade McKaughan in 2015; three brothers: William Johnson, Edward Lee Johnson and Leroy “Bob” Johnson; two sisters: May Moore and Johnnie Lee.

Bell is survived by her two daughters: Glenda Kay Goss and husband, Mike of Dickinson, Texas, and Jeannie Reynolds and husband, Bill of Soper, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Tami McKaughan of Finley; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
