Graveside services for Greta Joan (Nabors) Bruner, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020 at Many Springs Baptist Church in Holdenville, Okla. Greta passed away Nov. 18, 2020, at the age of 88.

Greta Joan (Nabors) Bruner was born on Oct. 29, 1932 in Antlers, Okla., to Iley and Sina (Underwood) Nabors. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jimmy.

After the death of her mother when Greta was 3 years old, she went to live with her Dad’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Nabors. They enrolled Greta into the Wheelock Indian School in Millerton, Okla., where she graduated eighth grade. Greta then enrolled in Chillocco Indian School in Chillocco, Okla., where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Bruner, and was married in 1949. After their marriage they moved to Chicago where they lived more than 10 years. They then moved to Irving, Texas, where Greta worked various jobs, but her most enjoyable job was that of a homemaker. After Jimmy’s retirement they moved to Antlers.

Greta is survived by her brothers-in-law, as well as her cousins, and her special cousin and caregiver. Greta will rest beside her husband, the Rev.

The Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
