EDMOND — After winning a nail-biter against the Oklahoma Christian Saints in first-round Regional Tournament play last Thursday in Edmond, the Hugo Buffaloes fell to the Kingston Redskins 12-9 and had to replay the Saints in an elimination game Friday. The Saints avenged their loss to the Buffaloes with a 10-7 victory to stay alive in the Regional Tournament.

Hugo’s Jordan Holman takes second in State in high jump!

Hugo Lady Buffalo Jordan Holman carved her initials in the Buffalo history books last week with a sensational second place finish in the State 3A Track Meet. Holman has been a multi-sport letterman all four years at Hugo High and a team leader of the Lady Buffaloes Basketball team and member of the school’s Championship Cheer Squad.

RAMS fall to State Champ Fort Cobb-Broxton

SHAWNEE — The 2021 Rattan RAMS were on a mission and many believed they would bring home another baseball State Championship. But the Fort Cobb-Broxton Mustangs had other ideas, and they squeaked past the RAMS in a back-and-forth 6-5 win to claim the State title last week.

THE RATTAN RAMS won the first Class A State playoff round against Tushka, 7-5, but we lost the semifinal game to Ft. Cobb-Broxton by a score of 6-5. Ft. Cobb-Broxton went on to beat Wister in the Championship game by a score of 8-1. The Rattan Rams won the Class A Academic State Championship trophy with a GPA of 3.938. The Rams ended their season with a record of 29-9. Members of the team include (front l-r) Carson Bailey, Logan Smith, Seth Springfield, Conner Perry, Ethan Clay, and Cale Clay. Boswell 0, Roff 16 The Boswell Scorpions ventured into State playoff territory Thursday against the Roff Tigers, hoping to get a chance to play for a State title. But the Tigers had State Championship plans and some red-hot pitching, to keep the Scorpions on their heels both at the plate and in the field and to prevail in becoming the ultimate State Champions.

TSET expands ‘Swap Up’ youth nutrition campaign

To help combat rising rates of childhood and adult obesity, the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) launched a teen-focused nutrition education campaign, Swap Up, earlier this year. Starting May 10, two new Swap Up educational messages began encouraging teenagers to make healthier nutritional choices, along with free to order educational materials supporting the healthy behaviors youth can adopt.
