OSDH releases updates on treatments for COVID-19

The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is committed to sharing the most up to date and timely information about the COVID-19 pandemic. Monday, the FDA removed the authorization for the use of two monoclonal antibody treatments that have been on the market, REGEN-COV and Bam/Ete, due to their ineffectiveness against the omicron variant, taking into consideration the prevalence of omicron in the country.

A winter storm blasting the state through Thursday with ice and snow followed by arctic air and this comes in a week when temperatures hit the 70s on Monday. This winter storm producing enough ice to cause power outages and downed trees and power lines. Temperatures will drop to near 16 degrees on Friday morning and 14 degrees Saturday morning. One bright note is that the weekend is looking Sunny with highs in the 40s.

Choctaw Development fund awards forgivable loan to TC Sprayfoam

On Jan. 14, TC Sprayfoam, located in Hugo, Okla., was awarded a $5,000 small business forgivable loan from Choctaw Nation Small Business Development and the Choctaw Development Fund that will be used towards an enclosed trailer for equipment so that the company will better serve its customers.

Charges dropped against former Boswell mayor

Felony charges against former Boswell mayor Buck Eastwood for malicious injury to property over $1,000 were recently dropped and the case dismissed by District Attorney Mark Matloff. According to court documents, evidence cannot sustain a conviction beyond a reasonable doubt.

• The organizational name change reflects the organization’s desire to inspire the communities of people it serves while encouraging upward mobility HUGO –– The local nonprofit organization serving people in Choctaw, Pushmataha and McCurtain counties in southeast Oklahoma, announced today the organization’s official rebrand to LIFT Community Action Agency (LIFT CAA), effective immediately. Becky Reynolds, LIFT CAA executive director, said the name change and new logo is attributed to the organization’s growth and expansion of its services, service area and team since its founding days in 1968.
