HUGO — After eluding Choctaw County Sheriff Deputy Cody Britt northbound on the Indian Nation Turnpike and driving erratically at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour, OHP Trooper Sedrick Frierson apprehended Gary Cook after he and Jamey Devon Alexander were observed at a private residence in the 400 block of West Duke Street in Hugo on Dec. 9, 2023.

FORT TOWSON — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to decline to provide additional details of the Trooper-involved fatality shooting that occurred at Tommy’s Bar on the west side of Fort Towson on Dec 2.

SOPER — The Fort Towson Tigers blew into Soper last week and made off with a pair of victories over their cross-county rivals. The Tigers jumped out to a strong first-quarter start, booking 18 points offensively, but Soper wasn’t too far behind scoring 15 of their own.

Jordan Holman, a 2021 graduate of Hugo High School, was named Newcomer of the Week by the Ohio Valley Conference at the end of November. Holman averaged 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in the first two games of the season and shot 50% from the field and 75% from behind the arc.

Hugo News Sports Two weeks into basketball season, the Buffaloes have quickly gotten used to being in close games that go down to the wire. Over the weekend, Hugo went 1-2 in the Antlers Tournament, falling to Valliant 51-49 on an overtime buzzer beater and dropping a game to Holdenville, 60-51.
