BLM schedules wild horse, burro event in Idabel

Body The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will hold a two-day wild horse and burro event Oct. 4 - 5 at the Idabel Rodeo Arena in Idabel, Okla. The event begins Friday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m., and will feature 150 animals for adoption. Adoptions take place Oct. 4, noon-6 p.m.

Body Michael Plummer, of Hugo, was this week’s winner of the Hugo News Football Contest after choosing 15 out of 18 games correctly. Plummer guessed closest (338) to the OU Sooners’ total yardage (349) to edge out JJ Johnson.

Freeman pleads guilty to drug conspiracy

Body MUSKOGEE –– The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Jerry Lana Freeman, age 33, of Hugo, Okla., entered a guilty plea to one count of drug conspiracy.

Buffaloes battle Valliant Bulldogs to 22-14 victory

Body Hugo News Sports VALLIANT — After a tough week 1 loss to Honey Grove, the Buffaloes bounced back with a 22-14 win against Valliant on the road Friday night. Hugo showed marked improvement, settling into the grind of the game early and pushing until the final whistle.

Soper dominates Fort Towson, 12-0

Body The Soper Red Bears run-ruled the Fort Towson Tigers, 12-0 in just three innings of play last week. Fort Towson’s Trenton Tims opened the game with a shot to deep left field for a double.
