STILLWATER –– Three Choctaw County 4-Hers were recognized for their achievements in 4-H at the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma Honor Night Assembly during the 104th State 4-H Roundup at Oklahoma State University.

Watering the yard and garden efficiently

Extension Specialist Consumer Horticulture During the summer, watering the landscape and garden can be the primary focus of our activities. Irrigation systems, whether a simple hose-end sprinkler or an elaborate in-ground system, help us accomplish this great task with a little more ease. Obviously, some systems require a little more attention and effort than others. However, all should be closely monitored and managed so that they work efficiently and provide adequate coverage for the plants’ needs.

Wild horses available for new homes

The Bureau of Land Management will offer the public an opportunity to adopt or purchase a wild horse at the Mowdy Ranch Public Off-Range Pasture (16280 Oklahoma Highway 31) in Coalgate, Okla., Aug. 16, 2025. The one-day event will begin at 9 a.m. and feature seven wild horses available for adoption or sale to qualified homes with fees starting at $25 per animal.

Reynolds named interim City Manager

HUGO — Longtime City of Hugo employee Alan Reynolds was sworn in Friday morning as interim city manager following a mixed decision by the city council. The appointment came on a motion by Councilman Ernest McCarty, seconded by Councilman Josh Armes.

Online form ready to help

Attorney General Gentner Drummond has strengthened government accountability in Oklahoma by launching an online complaint form that allows citizens to seek help when open records requests are denied. The new form is part of the work of the newly established Public Access Counselor Unit created this year by House Bill 2163.
