With a young team and only two games under their belt this season, Hugo knows there’s plenty of room for growth and improvement, and coach LaSha Cook is looking forward to that process.

Hugo News Sports BROKEN BOW — The Buffaloes beat Broken Bow 43-34 in their second game of the season and final game of the Broken Bow Classic on Saturday evening. After a slow start in the first half, Hugo came out of halftime with renewed energy and put on a clinic in the paint in the second half.

Stamper named to Maxwell Football Club voters

Hugo News Publisher Stan Stamper has been named by The Maxwell Football Club, of Southhampton, Pa., as a voting member for this year’s list of prestigeous football awards. The Maxwell Football Club was established in 1935, and is the annual sponsor of numerous football awards, including: The Maxwell Award: presented annually to the Most outstanding College football player.

City of Hugo officials have recently stated that street department equipment problems have prevented the city from paving streets that it customarily does during warm and dry summer months. In the past two annual budgets, the city has budgeted approximately $200,000 for street paving.
