Richard Payne

Funeral services for Richard Payne, of Hugo, Okla., were held Friday, May 29, 2026 at Shoat Springs Cemetery. Richard passed away May 23, 2026, at the age of 45. Richard Lynn Payne, Jr. was born on June 14, 1980 in Greenville, Texas, to Richard Payne and Kathie Darlene (Thomas) Woodson. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Freddy Woodson and grandparents. Richard was a graduate of Wolfe City, Texas. He lived in Bethel, Okla., and Greenville, Texas, before moving to Hugo more than 20 years ago. Richard married his beloved wife, Kathy Tucker, on Oct. 30, 2012. He had a big heart and never met a stranger. Richard was a diesel mechanic by trade and enjoyed tinkering with various vehicles. He also enjoyed cooking with family and fishing. Richard loved his animals, especially his dogs. He was a jokester who enjoyed making people smile.

Richard is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; father, Richard Payne of Texas; mother, Kathie Woodson of Hugo; daughters: Shellie Coffman and husband, and Nicki Albrecht and husband; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers: John Thomas and wife and Robert Long and wife; sisters: Christy Lynn Payne and husband and Kathlene Harland and husband; lifelong friends, along with a host of family, friends and loved ones.

Tim Albrecht officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
