Jerry Richard Blackwood, 74, was born on Feb. 1, 1952 in Peralta, Calif., the son of James Monroe Blackwood and Della Margaret (Mcinyre) Blakley. He was preceded in death by his father; James Blackwood; mother and stepfather, Della and Bill Blakley; brothers: Johnny and Eddie Blackwood; and sister, Deanna Sue.

Jerry spent many years working for the Kiamichi Railroad, where he built a long and respected career through dedication, reliability, and a strong work ethic. He retired in 2002 as Road Master, a role that reflected both his experience and the trust placed in him by those around him. His years on the railroad were an important part of his life, and he took pride in the work he did and the relationships he formed along the way. After retiring from the railroad, Jerry later went to work for Buddy’s Pumping, where he continued to do what he did best. He made many lifelong friends there, and his time with the company became another meaningful chapter in a life filled with hard work and good company.

Beyond his professional career, Jerry loved being outdoors and treasured the time he spent hunting, fishing, and camping. These were not just hobbies to him, but meaningful parts of a life well lived. Among the many joys in Jerry’s life his favorite was the times with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Whether that was playing horseshoes, taking them fishing and hunting or just sitting around visiting, those memories will be cherished for years to come. Jerry is survived by his family; wife, Linda Joyce Blackwood of the home; daughters: Julie Dickieson of Grant, Okla., Melissa Marris and husband of Grant and Kimberly Fitzgerald of California; eleven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a niece, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
