Graveside services for Shirley Lavone (Williams) Armes, of Hugo, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 29, 2026 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Pavilion.

Shirley Lavone (Williams) Armes, 70, went to her heavenly home on Oct. 24, 2026, passing at her residence in Hugo, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sept. 1, 1956 in Casa Grande, Ariz., the daughter of Thomas Douglas Williams and Mildred Edna (Kirkland) Williams. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

Shirley lived most of her life in Hugo, and was a graduate of Hugo High School, Class of 1974. She later moved to Texas where she worked for several car dealerships as a title clerk. As a vehicle enthusiast, Shirley especially enjoyed her time at the Mercedes-Benz Dealership in Park Place/Dallas, Texas, where she got to drive several of the luxury cars. She later returned to Hugo and met the love of her life, Don Armes. They were married on Nov. 24, 1999 in Hugo and spent the last 26 years living a life full of love and laughter together.

Shirley enjoyed the things that made life fun and memorable. She loved music, especially rock and roll. Shirley also loved hot rods and race cars, and she took pleasure in the excitement and style that came with them, her dream car being a Chevrolet Chevelle. Football was another favorite of hers, and she loved cheering for OU and the Dallas Cowboys. Whether it was game day, a favorite song, or the sound of an engine, Shirley knew how to enjoy the moments that brought her joy. Shirley also took pride in her appearance and enjoyed having her nails, hair and makeup done. These were more than routines for her.

They were part of how she expressed herself and carried herself with confidence and elegance.

Above all else, Shirley was the kind of person who made others feel welcome and cared for, and she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely throughout her life. Her family was at the center of her world, and she found great meaning in being present for the people she loved most. She especially showed extraordinary devotion to caring for her parents and her in-laws during their final days, offering comfort and compassion when they needed it most. Shirley leaves behind a legacy of devotion, tenderness and love for her family that will continue to be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

Shirley is survived by her loving family; her husband, Don Armes; children: Zachary Lawson and wife, Rachel of Farmers Branch, Texas, Cody Lawson and wife, Christy of Carrolton, Texas, Jeremy L Key and wife, Holly of Reno, Texas, Mandy Mittasch and husband, Barry of Jenks, Okla., and Shana Armes of Hugo; grandchildren: Damian, Madison, Darcey, Mason, Milton, Neelee, Brynnlee, Eli and CJ; great-grandchildren: Wrenlee and Wrylee; brothers: Tommy Williams and wife, Robbie of Bartlesville, Okla., and Gary Williams and wife, Norrine of Blossom, Texas; sister, Wylane Williams-Clark and husband, Ricky of Round Rock, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews and loved ones.
