Jeffrey Clay Curtis
Funeral services for Jeffrey Clay Curtis, of Paris, Texas, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Jeffrey passed away May 15, 2025, at the age of 70.
Jeffrey Clay Curtis was born on Nov. 9, 1954 in Hugo, Okla., the son of William Dean “Dub” Curtis and Emily Kathryn (Shepard) Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Clay spent most of his life in the Hugo area. He was a graduate of Hugo High School, Class of 1972. Clay went on to further his education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University but had the opportunity to pursue a career with the Oklahoma Railroad at a young age. Clay enjoyed his time there and retired in 2009 after 34 years.
Clay married his loving wife, Susan Hamby, on March 14, 2014. They built their life together in Paris, but Clay always enjoyed the Hugo area and had deep ties to the community. One of those being the First Presbyterian Church of Hugo, where he was a member and served as a deacon for many years.
Clay was known for his love of visiting with people and his joy for a good trade deal or bargain. Those two things went handin- hand, and he always was looking for opportunities to swap or sale. Above all else, Clay loved his family. His sudden passing has left a void in their lives, but his memory will live on in their hearts forever.
Clay is survived by his wife, Susan Hamby-Curtis; daughters: Kelli Lay and husband of Edmond, Okla., and Ashley Pollock and husband of Edmond; sister, Barbie Robinson and husband; numerous grandchildren and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
Interment followed the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
