Funeral services for Alpha Hill, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 2, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Alpha passed away Jan.

29, 2024, at the age of 81.

Alpha Lucille Hill was born on Oct. 16, 1942 in Farris, Okla., the daughter of C.N. Simpson and Mary Elizabeth (Flood) Simpson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.

Alpha was a graduate of Antlers High School, Class of 1961.

She married her beloved husband, Donald Hill in Antlers on June 3, 1961. Alpha and Don made their home in Hugo where they raised their two sons, Jeffery and John. She was a great woman of faith and a member of Southside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.

Alpha began work on her degree in teaching the year her youngest son enrolled in college.

She received her teaching degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.

Alpha taught kindergarten for Hugo Public Schools for 15 years, making sure that her little students were taught and cared for daily.

Later in her career she taught Pre-K for Little Dixie Headstart. Alpha collected antiques and loved the color pink. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother and made sure that her children and grandchildren knew they were her world. Alpha loved the Lord with her whole being and her family is confident that Jesus met her with open arms, and she is resting in peace with her Savior. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of kindness and her students and family will cherish her memory for time to come.

Alpha is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald “Don” Hill; sons: Jeffery Hill of Hugo and John Hill of Edmond, Okla.; five grandchildren; greatgrandchildren; sisters: Vi Springs and husband of Hugo and Martha “Marty” Stone of Hugo; a special niece, along with a host of family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Bro. Greg Mack and Bro. Edwin Findley officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
