Alvin Bruce Hunter

Funeral services for Alvin Bruce Hunter, of Grant, Okla., are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Alvin passed away May 16, 2025, at the age of 53.

Alvin Bruce Hunter was born on July 6, 1971 in Hugo, Okla., the son of Billy Gene “Bill” Hunter, Sr. and Edith (Heady) Shiplet. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patrica Markcum-Shannon; a brother-in-law; two nephews, Leeland Markcum and Anthony Songer; and a niece.

Alvin grew up in the Hugo area and then moved to Florida where he lived for more than 15 years. While there he worked as a sandblaster and painter. Alvin later returned to the Hugo area to be closer to his family. Alvin was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his friends and family. Alvin is survived by his family; brothers: Harvey Hunter and wife of Soper, Okla., Billy Hunter, Jr. and wife of Goodland, Okla., Darnell Markcum and wife of Wesson, Miss.; sister, Retha Kelley of Grant; an aunt; a cousin, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and other family.
