Carrie “Kaye” Faye Mays Mendenhall

Kaye Mendenhall, at the age of 99, passed away April 13, 2026 during her stay at Bluebonnet Point in Bullard, Texas, after suffering a stroke. Services will be held in Hugo, Okla., at a later date, where she will be buried alongside her husband Ross and with many other of her family including her mother and father and numerous siblings.

She was born on May 29, 1926 to Cleveland John Harvey Mays and Emma Ethyl Mays in Hugo. She attended high school in Hugo and graduated in 1942. After graduation, she worked at Camp Maxey, Texas, supporting the World War II effort.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Phillips and husband, Robert of Lawrence, Kan.; granddaughter, Ginger Williams and husband, Adam; great-granddaughters: Stella and Sienna of Lawrence, Kan. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death: her husband, Ross Mendenhall; her brothers: Willis, Neuman, Ellis, Weldon, Ed, Jay and sisters: Arlie, Erma, Lois and Estelle.

She lived in the Tyler, Texas, area for more than 50 years and will be missed by many friends and neighbors. May she rest in peace.
