Funeral services for Charles Leonard Mc-Intyre, of Achille, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. July 26, 2023 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Charles passed away July 21, 2023, at the age of 93. Charles Leonard “Beaver” McIntyre was born on July 17, 1930 in Hugo, Okla., the son of Preston McIntyre and Aurelia Kanubee McIntyre. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bob McIntyre and Vanard McIntyre and sister, Ramona Domebo.

Charles was a proud Veteran and served our Country in the Korean War as well as serving in the Military Police. He was the Battery Commander of the National Guard unit in Gallap, N.M., and was also a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Charles married his beloved wife, Gwen Querdibitty on Aug. 2, 1957, in Anadarko, Okla. He proudly played football for Simon Parker and Buff Parker on the 1948 State Final Team as a Hugo Buffalo. Charles taught and coached for many years in New Mexico and Hugo school systems and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was the Director for the National Indian Policy Academy in Roswell, N.M. Charles was also a former Executive Housing Director for the Choctaw Nation.

Charles is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gwen; sons: Charlie McIntrye of Achille, Okla., and David Querdibitty and wife, Celeste of Maumelle, Ark.; daughters: Julie Reiswig and husband, Gregg of Denison, Texas, and Maureen Lesky and husband, Justin of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren: Jonathan Querdibitty, Daniel Querdibitty, Zachary T. McIntyre, Rachel F. McIntrye and Cameron Lesky; great-grandchildren: Adina May, Cara May, June Querdibitty and Price Querdibitty, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Springs Chapel Cemetery with Elder Fred Logan officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
