Funeral services for Charles Mitchell Chandler, of Sobol, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 2, 2024 at Oak Grove Cemetery. Charles passed away Nov. 27, 2024, at the age of 67.

Charles Mitchell Chandler was born on Dec. 21, 1956 in Nashville, Ark., the son of John Mitchell Chandler and Lorene (Spanhanks) Chandler. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 25 years, Jodie Chandler; sisters: Patricia Cooley and Joyce Perrin and two infant siblings.

Charles was a resident of Sobol, and was a member of the Sobol Baptist Church. He worked as a sawmill laborer and made sheetrock for many years. Charles married his beloved wife, Virginia, on Oct. 20, 2018 in Ashdown, Ark., and they were blessed to have six wonderful years together. He loved to be outdoors, riding his mules, going deer and coon hunting and gardening. He always had a large assortment of tomato plants and is something he truly enjoyed growing. Charles loved cooking and baking for friends and family. He’d bake cakes for all types of events and people in the community and also enjoyed making his famous homemade biscuits, deer meat and chicken and dressing. Most of all, Charles loved to spend time with his family, children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those fortunate enough to know him. Charles is survived by his wife, Virginia Allensworth of the home; daughters: Kristi Wastian and husband of Murfreesboro, Ark., Debra Jenkins and husband of Bogata, Texas, and Heather Humphrey of Fort Towson, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 15 beloved great-grandchildren; special friends, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Scotty Ray and Roy Brown officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
