Cheryl Lynn (Ishcomer) Hanley
Funeral services for Cheryl Lynn (Ishcomer) Hanley, of Clayton, Okla., were held May 20, 2026 at Sobol Baptist Church.
Cheryl Lynn (Ishcomer) Hanley, 43, was born on Dec. 11, 1982 in Fort Smith, Ark., to Linda Ishcomer. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; an aunt; two uncles, and a great-niece.
On Friday, May 15, 2026, Cheryl Ishcomer shed her mortal coil and gained her wings into Heaven. A daughter, sister, niece and friend to all. Cheryl found her fulfillment in being a registered nurse, in the smiles and laughs of those around her, and in making the best chicken-n-dressing in the state of Oklahoma.
Cheryl lived most of her life in the Sobol community, graduated from Rattan High School and later graduated as an RN from Kiamichi Technology Center. Cheryl lived life out loud. She brought joy everywhere she went, often telling stories that left everyone belly laughing. She was courageous, adventurous, and an animal lover. She was a wonderful pet mom to any stray she came across or found along the way (animal or human). It’s cliche to say someone lit up a room, but she most certainly always did, in any room she walked into.
Cheryl loved being Choctaw and was proud of her native heritage. She loved her candy apple red Dodge Charger. She loved music by Stevie Nicks and she loved singing and having a good time, but among all of the things she loved, most importantly, her family was at the top of her list. She would, and often did, go to the ends of the earth to help anyone in need, even if it was just a shoulder to cry on or a warm meal. Cheryl is survived by her mother, Linda Ishcomer-Cannon and stepdad, Harold Cannon; brothers: Perry and wife of Durant, Okla., Robbie and wife of Lafayette, La.; sister, Corey Cannon and partner of Kemp, Okla.; stepdaughter, Leigha Hanley of Antlers, Okla.; three grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and special friend.
Interment followed the service at Black Jack Cemetery with Wes Haddox and Bessie Allensworth officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
