Clara passed away May 13, 2026, at the age of 80.

Clara Mae (Nation) Phillips was born on Dec. 14, 1945 at her childhood home in Valliant, the daughter of Clarence Edward Nation and Sadie Elmer (Spencer) Nation. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Ray Phillips; and brothers: Bennie and Howard Ray Nation.

Clara was a lifelong resident of McCurtain County, Okla.,and she married her loving husband William Phillips on May 6, 1963.

Among Clara’s many joys were making jewelry, tending to her flower garden, riding horses in her younger years and spending time outdoors. She found joy in creating beautiful things with her hands, whether that was making a necklace for a friend or tending to her many flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with the people she loved, especially her great-grandson, Grayson. Clara always greeted him with a big hug, Dr. Pepper and usually a cookie or two. She loved her family deeply and she cherished every moment with them.

Clara proudly ran Cornerstone Outreach for more than 20 years, where she shared her time and heart in service to others.

Her association reflected her desire to live out her faith in practical and meaningful ways. She believed in helping where she could, encouraging others with her gentle words, and offering support with providing food and clothing to all who were in need.

Clara truly had a servant’s heart and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion to others, and the love she gave so freely.

Clara’s memory will be remembered and cherished by those who survived her: son, Ashley Phillips and wife of Ringold, Okla.; a granddaughter; great-grandson; sister, Hazel Fennell of Valliant; brothers: Lonnie Nation and Ricky Nation, both of Valliant; along with many other family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Valliant Cemetery with Bro. Bob Stuart and Bro. Leon Tims officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
