Funeral services for Dava June Newman, of Muskogee, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 19, 2023 at Ravia Church of God.

Dava passed away Dec. 14, 2023, at the age of 84.

Dava June Newman was born on Feb. 13, 1939 in Cunningham, Texas, the daughter of Calvin Curtis O’Neal and Lula Gladys (Young) O’Neal. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Eli Williams Jr.; brothers: Paul O’Neal and Lawrence O’Neal; sisters: Helen Ashford, Jo Archibald, Alma Cook, Ruth Tucker and Betty Clark.

June grew up in Cunningham, Texas, and worked at Campbell Soup in Paris, Texas.

She was married to her former husband, Eli Willliams Jr., until his passing in 2007. June married Haden Newman on March 27, 2017 in Ardmore, Okla. She gave everything 110%. June loved playing the piano for her church at Ravia Church of God and loved her church family. She also enjoyed gardening. Most of all she loved her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them. June would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110%. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, gardening and reading to her heart’s content. Playing piano, laughter and love are guaranteed. She left detailed instructions for her husband and children to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed.

June is survived by her husband, Haden Newman; daughters: Karen Foster, Jo Carter, Dana Patterson and Rhonda Kerr; son, Allen Newman; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, other family member, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Goodland Cemetery with Bro. Charles Green officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
