Donald Edward Wood (Eddie)

Donald Edward Wood (known to most of you as Eddie) was born on Aug. 7, 1943 to Donald and Lawan (Beal) Wood. He peacefully passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Dec. 12, 2023 in McKinney, Texas, at the age of 80.

He lived most of his life in Hugo and was devoted to his family and community. Along with his parents and brother Philip, he owned and operated the family business, Hugo Tobacco and Candy Company. He was also involved with the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and volunteered in both community and civic activities. OU football was his passion. He was a season passholder for many years and enjoyed attending the games with his wife, Dawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lawan (Beal) Wood.

He is survived by his wife, dawn (Parish); two daughters: Laura Wood Raymond and son-in law, Robin Stillwagen of Gloucester, Va., Victoria (Wood) Cleveland and son-in-law, Charles Cleveland of Prosper, Texas; two grandchildren: Gates Raymond and Avery Cleveland; brother, Philip Wood of Waxahachie, Texas; sister, Jeani Schobert of Dallas, Texas; nephew, Chris Wood; three nieces: Sherry Schons, Georgia Scherlag and Sandra Caldwell, and a multitude of greatnephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2024 at the Heritage United Methodist Church in Hugo.
