Funeral services for Flossie Jean Cogburn, of Fort Towson, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m.

May 18, 2023 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel.

Flossie passed away May 13, 2023, at the age of 86.

Flossie Jean Cogburn was born on Nov. 29, 1936 in Ringold, Okla., the daughter of Joel Claud Hamill and Etter Lou Kalor Hamill. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Cogburn; a grandson; brothers: Leonard Corlie Hamill, Georgia Lee Hamill, Wilburn Silvanus “Ban” Hamill and Joe Clyde Hamill; sisters: Mary Lou Steward, Claudie Mills-Palmer and twin sister, Amber Rean Wolfe.

Jean was a lifelong resident of the Sobol/ Ringold community and was a member of The Sobol Old Country Cowboy Church.

She was an excellent cook, loved baking and made the most tender deer steaks, but biscuits and gravy were her specialty. Jean loved company and always made sure they were fed before they left. She loved to garden and could grow anything from seed. She loved her family and was always glad to see them and to cook for them. Jean was a collector and had a vast collection of rocks, plants and anything else that caught her eye. She loved shopping at garage sales, consignment shops, Goodwill and her favorite place was the Salvation Army. Jean loved chocolate, Pepsi and cornbread and milk as a meal. Above all things, Jean loved her family and the Lord. She was known as Moma, wife, sister, Aunt Jean, Memaaw, Mamaw and Bossie Flossie and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jean is survived by sons: Jerry Cogburn and Nick Cogburn; daughter, Brookie Billy and Barbara Morgan; five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Interment will follow the service at Sobol Cemetery with Kenneth Cogburn officiating.

Assisting will be Johnny Corgill, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
