Gail (Ferguson) Brown

Gail (Ferguson) Brown, 87, of McKinney, Texas, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026 in McKinney, Texas.

Gail Dean Ferguson Brown was born on Jan. 24, 1939 in Soper, Okla. She was the third child of Ruby and Lester Ferguson. After graduating from high school, Gail worked several years as a bank teller at Citizens State Bank in Hugo.

In 1962, she married Ken Brown of Hugo. Gail was a self-taught watercolor artist; Ken had begun dabbling in calligraphy during an introductory art class at Oklahoma State University. A few years into their marriage, their combined art forms were reproduced, framed, and sold all over the country.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents and an older brother, L.C. Ferguson.

She is survived by husband, Ken Brown; son, Kevin Brown and wife, Missy; daughter, Erin Hernandez and husband, Noe; grandchildren: Lauren Brown, Matthew Brown, Cameron Hernandez and Aiden Hernandez; sister, Jean Moore; brother, Lynn Ferguson, and many nieces and nephews.

A private family service for Gail was held in McKinney, Texas, on Sept. 24, 2026, under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
