Howard Gibson
Howard Truitt (Dick) Gibson, of Hugo, Okla., left this life on Dec. 25, 2024, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Theresa Gibson.
Dick joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and was stationed in Roswell, N.M., Caribou, Maine, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Laredo,Texas and lastly Carswell AFB where he finally settled his family in Fort Worth, Texas, after retirement. During the Vietnam war, he was sent to four different islands to repair B52s damaged in the war. He retired from the Air Force in 1973 and opened a successful automotive repair business as well as a barbecue restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. He later retired from these ventures to his beloved farm in Hugo, Okla., where he lived until his death.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth W. Gibson; daughter, Joanne Walker and spouse, of Fort Worth, Texas; a granddaughter and spouse and two great-grandsons.
He is also survived by his sister, Floyce Gibson of Manchester, N.H. Others include a stepson, Don Fultz of Austin, Texas, and a stepdaughter, Deborah Norris and spouse of Taylorsville, Utah, and grandsons, and a bonus brother of West Chicago, Ill.
A private memorial service to honor his life is planned for his immediate family members and close friends, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
