Funeral services for Jane Marie Burris, of Sobol, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
Jane Marie (Simpson) Burris, of Sobol, Okla., went to her heavenly home on Sept. 29, 2024 in her home, at the age of 89.
Jane was born on Feb. 27, 1935 in Phelps, Wis., the daughter of Charles Simpson and Lillion (Nelson) Simpson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy James Harvey Burris; and sister, Dorthy Simpson.
Jane and her family later moved to Kent, Wash., and that is where she met her loving husband, Bill. They were married there on March 11, 1948, and they moved to the Sawyer area to build their life together.
Jane worked for many years in the Wells Lamont Glove Factory and then Weyerhaeuser at the tree farm for 21 years. However, her true passion was making art. She was very talented and had a keen eye for making things look beautiful.
Jane loved being outdoors and traveling; getting to see the world. The mountains and woods were some of her favorite places to be. Most of all she loved her family. Jane loved to attend big gatherings, where all the family would get together to visit, deer camp at Glover River being one of those special times. She also loved going to rodeos and ball game to support her family and friends and of course, to visit. Jane was loving, kind and full of laughter. She truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, with a smile always on her face. Her passing has left a void in many lives, but her loving personality, joy for life and her witty sense of humor will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved her.
Jane is survived by her best friend and traveling companion; son, Billy Jay Burris of Sawyer; a grandson and a granddaughter; brothers: Jerry Simpson, Jim Simpson, Chuck Simpson, all of Kent, Wash.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
Interment will follow the service at Fort Towson Cemetery, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
