Jimmie Rae Taylor
Jimmie Rae Taylor, of Soper, Okla., passed from this life on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, at his home in the country surrounded by his family, at the age of 97.
Jimmie was born on Aug. 10, 1928 in Byars, Okla., the son of Calvin Taylor and Ida Bell (Golden) Taylor. After high school he began working as a truck driver and worked from Oklahoma to California. He joined the US Navy at the beginning of World War II and served until 1946. Following his service in the Navy, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations. Following the Korean War, he joined the National Guard of Oklahoma as a Reserve of the Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1960. Following his service, he joined the Civil Air Patrol of the United States serving in the New Mexico Wing. After this he continued trucking in Oklahoma and began another chapter of his life when he married Sandra Petty on Oct. 13, 1998 in McCloud, Okla. Together they moved back to Soper in 2000 and began working the land on his ranch. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Oklahoma.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Sandra Taylor of the home; two step-sons: Henry Zimmerman and Ronald Zimmerman; step-sisters: Portia Blankenship of Boswell, Okla., and Sue Petty of Holdenville, Okla.; step-granddaughter, April Sutton.
