Martha Ann (Taylor) Smith

Graveside services for Martha Ann (Taylor) Smith, of Hugo, Okla., were held May 13, 2025 at Grant Cemetery. Martha passed away May 9, 2025, at the age of 74.

Martha Ann (Taylor) Smith was born on Oct. 14, 1950 in Hugo, the daughter of Buford Ray Taylor and Ruth Ann (Allen) Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Don Smith; brothers: Allen Taylor, James Taylor, Gary Taylor, Darrell Taylor and Paul Taylor and sister, Helen Bolin. Martha had lived in the Hugo community for most of her life and found joy in caring for others while working in home health as a nurse’s aide. She married her beloved husband, Jerry Don Smith from Antlers and they were blessed with 18 years of marriage before his passing. Martha enjoyed doing crafts and going rock hunting. She loved her dogs and the occasional trip to Choctaw Casino. Martha was happiest when she was able to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved her family and spending time with them, and they will miss her dearly.

Martha is survived by her daughters: Debby Bailey and husband of Hugo and Anita Morehead and husband of Powderly, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers: David Taylor of Calera and Don Taylor of Millerton; and sisters: Janet Sheffield of Durant, Pat Farris of Caddo, Linda Burchfield of Sawyer and Brenda Clinton of Hugo.

Bro. Luther Roden officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
