Michael Dean Forbus
Michael Dean Forbus passed away on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at his home in Messer at the age of 73. Michael, known by his friends as “Forbus” was born April 12, 1952, in Coos Bay, Ore.
He moved back to Oklahoma with his family as a child and spent most of his life living in the Messer area. Forbus worked for McGraw Propane for many years. He enjoyed riding and training horses and living as a lifelong cowboy where he was referred to as the “outlaw.”
Forbus is survived by two sons: Greg Forbus of Dallas, Texas, and Michael Ray Forbus of Lawton, Okla.; one daughter, Rachell Byrd of Hugo, Okla.; eight grandchildren: Cameron, Wyatt, Brook, Lindsey, Kolby, Karson, McKenzie and Eathon; two brothers: Ray Forbus of Joplin, Mo., and Larry Forbus of Hugo; one sister, Mary Sue Mullins of Powderly, Texas. He was preceded in death by one brother, James David Forbus.
Graveside services for Forbus were held Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Messer.
