Funeral services for Michael Wayne Rieves, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 30, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Michael passed away Dec.
26, 2024, at the age of 74.
Michael Wayne Rieves was born on Aug. 14, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Johnnie Rieves and Marie (Hanley) Rieves. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Johnnie Frank Rieves and Rickey Joe Rieves.
Michael had lived in the Hugo community the past five years and worked on the road as a truck driver to provide for his family. He married the love of his life, Brenda Martin, on Jan. 1, 1969, in Fort Towson and they lived a wonderful life together raising their daughters. Michael loved to be outdoors and taking walks in the woods. Micheal had an old soul, and his family would say he was born 100 years too late because if he had it his way, he would have lived in those woods he loved. He also enjoyed riding four wheelers and motorcycles, playing the guitar and working with his hands tinkering on things. Most of all, Michael loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Those who knew Michael will remember him for his phrase “ssshhh…t.”
His family will miss him greatly, but his memory will live on in their hearts.
Michael is survived by his loving family: wife, Brenda Rieves of the home; daughters: Tina Rieves of Hugo and Trisha Rieves of Hugo; grandchildren: Amber Ragan and husband, Calvin of Detroit, Texas, James M. Layton of Hugo, Brittany Holland and husband, Chance of Bentonville, Ark., Shanee Tomlinson of Midwest City, Okla., Bria Schaar of Sherman, Texas, and Alyssa Layton of Paris, Texas; great-grandchildren: Kasey Lynn, Nicholas Howell, Kristen Howell, Katlyn Howell, Jaden Tomlinson, Keyln Rieves, Payton Tomlinson, Shelby Holland, Paisley Holland, Kenden Layton, Zayden Layton, Noah Hartman and Kior Mason; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and loved ones.
Interment followed the service at Fort Towson Cemetery with Bro. Keithen Brown officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
