Funeral services for Richard Bishop were held at 10 am. Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 at Goodwater Methodist Pavilion.

Richard A. Bishop 73, of Valliant, Okla., passed from this life Nov. 4, 2020. He was born Nov. 15, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas, the son of Cecil Bishop and Dorothy (Minyard) Bishop.

Richard served in the United States Navy as a construction mechanic from 1964 to 1967. He reenlisted in February of 1968 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the following medals: The Vietnam Campaign metal for six months of service in the Republic of Vietnam; Authorized to wear Fleet Marine Force Combat operations Insignia and the National Defense service metal.

Richard married Alice Caldwell on March 25, 1980 in Marshall, Texas. He enjoyed tray-eling all over the country participating in fishing tournaments. Richard loved his children, grandchildren, and his service dog, Hobo. He enjoyed football games, NASCAR, family reunions and get-togethers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Dorothy Bishop of San Angelo; a brother, Don Bishop and sister, Barbara McKelvy.

Richard is survived by his wife, Alice Bishop of Valliant; daughters: Lisa Kitchings and husband of Overton, Texas, Rose Butler of Broken Bow, Okla.; sons: Tommy Anderson and wife, Anderson of LaRue, Texas; Loren Stern of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; sisters: Nancy Schraer and husband of Brownwood, Texas, Patsy Madewell of San Angelo along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Interment followed the service at Goodwater Cemetery with Tommy Wesley officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
